Vietnamese and Lao police forces sign deal on ensuring order and security along shared border

PSNews - The Nghe An Provincial Police Department of Vietnam and the public security departments of the Lao provinces of Bo Ly Kham Xay, Xieng Khouang and Hua Phan co-held a conference to discuss cooperation plans to ensure order and security along the shared borderline, from July 3 to July 5, in Bo Ly Kham Xay province (Laos).

Over the past time, despite the complicated situation in the region and world, the police forces of Nghe An province (Vietnam) and Bo Ly Kham Xay, Xieng Khou and Hua Phan provinces (Laos) have still coordinated closely and effectively in maintaining order and security along the shared borderline while regularly exchanging information, ensuring information security, and controlling epidemics, contributing to building a border of peace, stability, friendship and development.

The good cooperation between the two sides has also made an important contribution to ensuring security of the Vietnam-Laos border and consolidating the good traditional relationship between the two countries in general and the two countries’ police forces in particular.

The Nghe An Provincial Police Department has so far completed construction and handed over 21 communal police office buildings to the Lao police forces stationed along the Vietnam-Laos borderline, following the instructions of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos and the agreement between the Nghe An Provincial Police Department and the public security departments of Bo Ly Kham Xay, Xieng Khouang and Hua Phan provinces.

Speaking at the conference, leaders of the Lao and Vietnamese delegations expressed delight at the positive results of the implementation of the agreements and joint plans, especially the memorandum of understanding of the conference on security cooperation signed in 2022 between the three Lao public security departments of Bo Ly Kham Xay, Hua Phan and Xieng Khouang provinces, and the Nghe An Provincial Police Department.

In the spirit of special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police Department Major General Pham The Tung  signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in ensuring security and order in 2023 with leaders of the public security departments of Bo Ly Kham Xay, Hua Phan and Xieng Khouang provinces, Laos.
