The Vietnamese boxer Truong Thi Kim Tuyen on June 18 earned a gold medal at the 24th Asian Taekwondo Championships in Lebanon. She beat Uzbekistan representative Madinabonu Mannopova with a victory of 25-24 to become the winner in the women's 49-kilogram category.
After the Asian Taekwondo Championship, Kim Tuyen will compete in Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 in July.
In 2018, Kim Tuyen had become a champion in the women’s 46- kilogram category. Thus, this is the second golden medal that the female boxer won at two consecutive Asian championships and she has been the only Vietnamese athlete to make the greatest achievement so far.
Earlier, Vietnamese martial artist Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet on June 16 secured a silver medal during the Asian Taekwondo Championships 2021.
In the semi-finals of the women’s 57kg category, Tuyet successfully defeated Lo Chia-ling of Taiwan (China) who had previously beaten her during the qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics. However, the Vietnamese athlete lost in the final game against an opponent from the Republic of Korea to ultimately finish the competition with a silver medal.
As reported, this year - tournament has attracted 337 athletes from 28 countries.
