Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung stated, after the 11th annual exchange taking place in Singapore last year, the bilateral cooperation between the two ministries has been strengthened in all fields, contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Singapore strategic partnership.

At the meeting, representatives from the two ministries frankly and openly discussed a number of security issues as well as approaches to ensure cybersecurity, prevent and combat online scams, fight drug-related crimes, as well as how to effectively apply science and technology into crime prevention and control.

Regarding orientations for the bilateral cooperation in the coming time, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung suggested that the two ministries should maintain high-level delegation exchange and contact to strengthen mutual trust and understanding, while actively supporting and consulting each other on issues of mutual interest at international and regional forums and conferences.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister underlined that the two sides should consider establishing a cooperation mechanism, enhance experience exchange in cybercrime prevention and fighting, and organize training and capacity-building programs on high-tech crime, law drafting, digital forensics, data recovery, analysis of electronic evidence, cryptocurrency and digital assets.

The two sides need to share experience in handling harmful information and protecting personal data, as well as conduct joint drills on protecting critical information infrastructure and responding to and resolving cybersecurity incidents.

Regarding fire and rescue cooperation, the host suggested that the two sides continue to exchange hands-on experience in fire and rescue operations, transfer technology in the production of fire and rescue equipment, support each other with fire and rescue equipment as well as share scientific and technological achievements applied in fire and rescue operations.

For his part, Singaporean Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Aubeck Kam underlined that, in the coming time, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore will continue to support the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in training and building capacity of the Public Security Forces and share scientific and technological achievements in preventing and combating crime with the Vietnamese counterpart.

At the end of the meeting, the two head delegates reached consensus on further promoting security and law enforcement cooperation between the two ministries, contributing to deepening the Vietnam – Singapore strategic partnership in general and the ties between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Singaporean Ministry of Home Affairs in particular in a practical and effective manner.
