Viettel completes methadone treatment management system

PSNews - A Vietel-newly-developed methadone management system will help the Ministry of Health (MoH) to eliminate the paper-based management way in methadone treatment from June 2018.

The methadone treatment system newly developed by Viettel and jointly deployed by the Department of HIV/AIDS Prevention under the MoH was officially launched on December 8.

Viettel, with its advantage of technology, has built a system of 13 modules and 120 features to apply smart technological solutions in patient management, barcode technology in patient reception, and facial recognition software.

The project was only started in June 1st, and it is now pilot-running in the two cities of Hanoi and Thai Nguyen. The system manages the treatment and medication prescription for more than 5,500 patients every day. Facts have shown that the system has helped to reduce the time to serve each patient at reception and prescription drug by half to 30 seconds from 1 minute, lessening congestion and ensuring security and order.

The system also helps heath agencies to review and evaluate indicators, tables, charts, treatment results and pharmaceutical stock via a computer or mobile device.

Once the methadone treatment management system goes into official operation, patients will be able to register treatment at any methadone treatment centers nationwide without any papers.

The system is expected to help the MoH to completely eliminate paper-based administration in methadone treatment from June 2018.

The success has also demonstrateed Viettel's efforts in association with the State agencies to apply IT in State management systems.
