VN, RoK promote cooperation in crime control

PSNews - General To Lam, Minister of Public Security (MPS), received Mr. Kim Chang Yong, Commander of the National Police Agency (NPA) of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on the Morning of November 3rd in Hanoi who leads a RoK police delegation to attend the 3rd Deputy-Ministerial level Conference on Police Cooperation.

The event also saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, and Mr. Park Noh-wan, RoK Ambassador to Vietnam.

After the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong and Commander Kim Chang Young led the two high-ranking delegations to attend the3rd Deputy-Ministerial level Conference on Police Cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK.

At the conference, the two sides exchanged information, evaluated the results of the bilateral police cooperation between the two sides over the past time, and discussed major orientations for the bilateral cooperation in the coming time.

Accordingly, the bilateral police cooperation will focus on the fields of crime control, maintaining the social order and safety in each country, contributing to deepening the Vietnam- RoK strategic partnership.

In the coming time, the Vietnamese MPS and the RoK NPA will continue to promote cooperation and further implement the agreements signed between the two sides. Particularly, the two sides will strengthen information exchange and effective coordination in crime control, focusing on high-tech crime, drug-related crime, frauds, and other serious crimes.

The two sides will also cooperate in immigration management while protecting citizens of one country living, working and studying in the other so as to minimize law violations or unexpected situations.

The Korean NPAwill continue projects to improve the criminal science capacity (phase 2) and provide equipment and means for the Vietnamese MPS in the coming years.

 Particularly, the two sides will promote cooperation in personnel training and capacity building of police officers in charge of hi-tech crimes, drug-related crimes, and human trafficking as well as in teaching Vietnamese and Korean languages for police officers of two countries.

The Vietnamese side hoped that the RoK NPA would create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese MPS officers to go to RoK to learn experience in making the Law on Ensuring Traffic Order and Safety. The MPS also invites Korean experts to Vietnam to research and share solutions to traffic issues in Vietnam.
