As planned, the volunteer team cleaned up duckweed, plastic bottles and other trash as well as filter the canal 30-4 in the area of Ward 6. The team also made piles and used string to connect along 1,000 meters of the canal, with the aim of avoiding the growth of duckweed in the coming time.

Captain Dang Van Phuong, Secretary of Soc Trang Police said: "The canal 30-4 in Ward 6 has a high density of duckweed, hindering the flow and circulation of local people. Therefore, we planned to carry out this campaign, aiming to keep this canal clean so as to create favourable condition for local people's transportation".

Additionally, the Youths of Soc Trang Police and the Zone 9 Military School provided local people more information about environmental protection, urging people to break the habit of using plastic products and nylon bags, to stop littering as well as to regularly clean up channels and ponds.
