12/1 Fire Prevention and Fighting model operates effectively in Can Tho

PSNews - The success of the 12/1 model has marked a milestone in the development of the Can Tho city-typical socialized fire prevention and fighting sector.

The 12/1 model is known as a voluntary association of 12 households in one area with one team leader, one deputy head and 10 members. The association is to deploy fire prevention measures as well as to detect and to extinguish fire at the first stage in their area.

The Can Tho Municipal Fire Police revealed that there are currently 126 associations of the 12/1 model, and affirmed that these associations are operate effectively, bringing positive results, receiving strong support from local authorities and people and raising the public awareness of fire prevention and fighting.

Phan Tong Thu, the leader of a 12/1 model association of a motel grouping in area 5, Hung Loi ward, Ninh Kieu district said, "The association's members organize monthly fire prevention and fighting cross-checks among the grouping’s motels .”

The Ninh Kieu District Fire Police, there are currently manages 785 businesses and factories in the district. However, the district has 13 wards with 71 populous residential sections. Therefore, the work of fire prevention and fighting becomes very important and should be strictly conducted in every household, factory or business, according to the Ninh Kieu District Fire Police.

Major General Tran Thi Ngoc Dep, Director of the Can Tho Municipal Fire Police asserted that the 12/1 model is an initiative contributing to promoting mass dissemination and mobilizing people’s strength in the “All people participating in fire prevention and fighting” movement. The success of the 12/1 model is of importance and significance in the current complex fire and explosion situation.

Through the 12/1 model, people can have a higher sense of  responsibility for fire prevention and firefighting, contributing to ensuring safety for themselves and the community.
