Bac Ninh Traffic police strictly handle drink drivers

PSNews– In implementing the campaign launched by the Ministry of Public Security against drug and drink driving, the Bac Ninh Provincial Police Department has mobilized its traffic police force to strictly handle offences of traffic regulations, particularly offences related to drug and drink driving.

A working team of the Bac Ninh Road Traffic Police Section No.1, led by Captain Vu Quang Manh, on March 22 was assigned to patrol and check blood alcohol concentration of all drivers driving pass the Bac Ninh police checkpoint.

Drivers are stopped and required to take breath tests with a disposable mouthpiece, while still sitting inside their vehicles.

The fast blood test process helped Bac Ninh police check dozens of cases for only an hour. They detected 4 car drivers violating the alcohol limit while driving vehicles on the road.

In particular, the team stopped a 4-seater car with the driver named Pham. N.T (residing in Ha Nam). The alcohol concentration level of the driver exceeded the highest alcohol level of 0.4 milligrams per liter of breath.

Driver Pham. N.T will be fined from 30 to 40 million VND. His driver’s license will be revoked for 22 to 24 months and his vehicle will be temporarily detained, according to the current traffic regulations.

Earlier, a working team led by police officer Vu Trong Au stopped and checked a driver named Nguyen T.A (residing in Tien Du, Bac Ninh), driving the car with licensed plate number 30F-557.xx.

The alcohol concentration level of the driver exceeded the lowest alcohol level of 0.25 milligrams per liter of breath. He will be fined 7 million VND and his license will be revoke for 11 months.

According to Colonel Dang Thanh Phong, Head of the Bac Ninh Traffic Police Division, the unit has coordinated with the district police to mobilize forces and means to increase patrols and checks on all routes in Bac Ninh Province, and seriously handle cases of drivers tested positive for illicit drugs and alcohol.

Since the beginning of 2021, the Bac Ninh Traffic Police force has handled 434 cases of drink driving and ticketed over 1.8 billion VND of fine in total.
