CAND Newspaper and its partners present bicycles to needy students in Soc Trang

PSNews – The Public Security (CAND) Newspaper in May in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Long Phu District, Soc Trang Province and benefactors visited and presented gifts and scholarships to needy students in Long Duc and Phu Huu Commune.

The trip was joined by several benefactors, namely Mr. Nguyen Van Khuynh’s family, the Tan Thien Nhien Compnay, and Tan Thanh Company.

Within the program, the CAND Newspaper and partners presented 34 bicycles and scholarships (each worth 500,000VND) to 34 needy students with outstanding academic records in the locality.

According to Mr. Vo Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Phu Huu Commune People’s Committee, the commune has 62 poor households and 141 near-poor households, accounting for nearly 14% of the local population.

Meanwhile, Long Duc Commune has 82 poor households and 84 near-poor households, accounting for about 7% of the local population.

At the event, Mr. Hoang Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Long Phu District Party’s Committee thanked the charity mission for their supports.

He affirmed that, the charitable program of the CAND Newspaper and its partners contributed to encouraging needy students to overcome difficulties in life and get better academic records.

On same day, the bridge connecting 2 Phu Huu and Long Duc Communes was also inaugurated. The bridge, which is 25 meters length and 1.7 meters width, has been built thanks to Mr. Nguyen Van Khuynh's support of 250 million VND.
