Chau Binh, Ngoc Ly Prisons announce Decisions on early conditional release of prisoners

PSNews - 94 prisoners serving their sentences at Chau Binh Prison and Ngoc Ly Prison will soon return to their hometown, following decisions on early conditional release.

Chau Binh Prison (located in Giong Trom District, Ben Tre Province) managed by the Ministry of Public Security on August 7 announced a decision on early conditional release of the first phase of 2018. Accordingly, the beneficiaries were 37 prisoners serving sentences at the prison.

Same day, Ngoc Ly Prison (located in Bac Giang Province) also announced a decision on early conditional release of 57 prisoners serving sentences at the prison, including 28 prisoners from Bac Giang Province.

Early conditional release is a legal provision for prisoners serving sentences who have made progress in working, learning and observing the regulations at prisons. This is a judicial measure in the execution of imprisonment sentences that expresses the humanity and clemency policy of the Party and State and contributes to preventing and fighting against crimes as well as re-educating prisoners.

Earlier, leaders of the two prisons set up working teams to work with the localities to receive the early-released prisoners in order to well manage them after returning home.

Under the regulations, early-released prisoners still have to serve their probationary periods, whose length depends on their sentences; As a result, they are put under the supervision and management of local authorities. Those who intentionally commit crimes or are administratively fined twice shall be returned to prison to serve the remaining time of their imprisonment sentences.
