Cipher sector of Ministry of Public Security asked to be regular, modern force

The Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Governmental Cipher Committee to organize a conference on the afternoon of September 15 to assess the situation and results of cipher work in the People's Public Security Forces. 

Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Le Van Tuyen and Chief of the Governmental Cipher Committee Major General Vu Ngoc Thiem co-chaired the conference.

At the meeting, delegates listened to an overall report on the cipher work in the Public Security Forces delivered by a representative from the Department of Telecommunications and Ciphers under the Ministry of Public Security.

The report also mentioned directions and solutions for the People's Public Security Cipher sector to become a regular, elite and modern force by 2025.

During the meeting, delegates exchanged opinions and answered queries from representatives from functional agencies of the Ministry of Public Security and the Governmental Cipher Committee about advantages and disadvantages of the public security cipher sector in implementing their tasks as well as orientations for the building of the sector in the coming time.

Speaking at the Conference, Major General Vu Ngoc Thiem expressed his agreement with assessments from the overall report and opinions of delegates. He also highly appreciated the good work results achieved by the public security cipher sector in recent times, saying that the Department of Telecommunications and Ciphers under the Ministry of Public Security ensured safety and security of information and networks in the Public Security Forces while actively advising the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security to lead the cipher work in the Public Security Forces in a comprehensive, synchronous and effective manner.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen thanked the Governmental Cipher Committee for its effective support and assistance for the People's Public Security Forces in the field of cipher in the past years. Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen also highly appreciated the close coordination between the Ministry of Public Security and the Governmental Cipher Committee in exchanging experience, cipher expertise, as well as designing and making cryptographic products for the public security cipher system.

The deputy minister highlighted that the Governmental Cipher Committee recently provided effective solutions and cryptographic products for the Ministry of Public Security to implement large projects, such as the National Population Database Project, project on production, issuance and management of chip-based ID cards, project to enhance the application of data on population, electronic identification and authentication for national digital transformation in the period of 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030 (Project 06).

To strengthen the bilateral coordination and cooperation between the two sides, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen proposed the Governmental Cipher Committee to give ideas to the Ministry of Public Security on developing a regular, elite and modern People's Public Security Cipher force while supporting the Ministry of Public Security in building capacity of public security cipher officers. 

“At the same time, we wish to receive further support from the Governmental Cipher Committee in research and supply of cryptographic products and specialized equipment in the coming time,” said the deputy minister.
