COVAX, also known as the Global COVID-19 Vaccine Facility, is a global mechanism which focuses on the development, manufacturing, and procurement of COVID-19 vaccines. In addition, it supports member countries in gaining access to various types of vaccines as they become available on the world market.

According to details outlined by Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, the Ministry will continue to distribute the vaccines to all agencies and localities as part of efforts to speed up the nation’s mass vaccination campaign.

Furthermore, the country is also in the process of stepping up negotiations with other vaccine manufacturers, including both Pfizer and Moderna of the United States, along with those in Russia and China. This is being done alongside implementing comprehensive measures aimed at ensuring a safe vaccination campaign.

A total of 62 localities nationwide have completed their vaccination plans as of May 12, with more than 942,030 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine being injected into frontline medical staff.

Other individuals to receive the vaccine include people involved in COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, as well as military and public security officers.
