Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang: Immigration Department enhances immigration management

PSNews - The Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a conference on June 25 to review the immigration management work in the first half of 2021 (H1).

The event saw the presence of Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang and was chaired by Major General Quach Huy Hoang, Director of the Immigration Department.

According to reports delivered by leaders of the Immigration Department at the conference, over the past six months, the unit has successfully fulfilled its working programs and tasks assigned by the Government and the MPS leadership.

Given the complicated COVID-19 situation, leaders of the Immigration Department directed the immigration management force to strictly manage entry into and exit from Vietnam, contributing to preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to ensuring security for the 13th National Party Congress and the elections of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term. 

In addition, the Immigration Department actively implemented newly-promulgated legal documents on immigration, promoted reform of administrative procedures in the field of immigration, applied scientific and technological advances to immigration management as well as effectively controlled illegal entry and exit.

Regarding some key tasks for the department in the coming time, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang requested the unit to pay due attention to coordinating with specialized under-ministerial units and local police departments to promptly implement guidelines and policies of the Party, State and Government on immigration with a focus on creating favorable conditions for foreign experts to enter Vietnam to work, contributing to socio-economic development.

Furthermore, the Immigration Department was asked to enhance immigration management and management of foreigners, and resolutely prevent illegal foreigners’ residency and activities in Vietnam.

* On this occasion, under the authority of the State President, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang presented the Third-class Labor Order to the Immigration Department and the Third-class Military Exploit Order to Lieutenant General Bui Mau Quan, former Director of the department. Many individuals and teams with excellent achievements in task performance, force building, and COVID-19 prevention and control were also honored at the conference.
