Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long reviews Da Nang City Police Department’s drug prevention and control work

PSNews - Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long chaired a working session with the Da Nang City Police Department to review its drug prevention and control work.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long commended the Da Nang City Police Department for its achievements in combating drug-related crime in recent years.

The Deputy Minister noted that the Department had synchronously implemented a wide range of measures and achieved many positive results, particularly in developing numerous drug-free communes and wards, effectively carrying out drug rehabilitation work, strengthening the management of drug addicts, illegal drug users and retail drug dealers, as well as promptly detecting and dismantling drug hotbeds.

He emphasized that these achievements have made an important contribution to maintaining security and social order in the city.

Regarding key tasks in the coming period, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long requested the Da Nang City Police Department to continue thoroughly implementing the Ministry of Public Security's plan on conducting a comprehensive survey and making an exact statistical list of drug addicts, illegal drug users and individuals involved in organizing illegal drug use or drug trafficking, ensuring that none of the subjects is overlooked.

He stressed that the communes or wards which have achieved the goal of becoming drug-free should sustain their attained results, promptly detect and strictly handle any drug-related violations newly arising, and resolutely prevent the emergence of drug hotbeds, drug dens or safe havens for drug criminals.

Regarding drug rehabilitation work, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long instructed the Da Nang City Police Department to ensure absolute security and safety at rehabilitation facilities, effectively organize vocational training, general education and disciplinary education programs and provide trainees with adequate living conditions as well as cultural and recreational activities in accordance with regulations.

On behalf of the leadership of the Da Nang City Police Department, Major General Nguyen Huu Hop affirmed that the Department would seriously implement the Deputy Minister's directions, and further improve the effectiveness of drug prevention and control efforts, thereby contributing to the successful realization of the city's goal of building drug-free communes and wards.
