Deputy Minister urges traffic police force to strengthen coordination with press and media

PSNews - The Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security on April 18 held a conference themed "Improving efficiency of dissemination on traffic safety and building traffic culture." Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended the meeting.  

The event also saw the presence of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security’s Office, Public Security (CAND) Newspaper, the Center for Radio, Television and Film of Public Security (ANTV).

At the conference, Senior Colonel Le Xuan Duc, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department pointed out some existing issues relating to traffic safety, including  an increasing number of vehicles,  inappropriate traffic planning in many roads and irrational construction of some urban residential areas, which are more likely to lead to traffic jams.

Besides, criminal activities on transport routes are increasing while the state management of traffic safety remained overlapped and decentralized due to some inappropriate regulations on road traffic.

Nevertheless, the traffic police force, as the key force in ensuring traffic safety, has contributed positively to raising the public awareness of law enforcement on traffic safety, and controlled traffic offences and accidents.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the Public Security Newspaper underlined the importance of the press and media in handling traffic issues, suggesting that the Traffic Police Department should always collaborate with the press and media to immediately report  exact information about arising issues to orient the public opinion rather than wait for instructions from leaders of the Ministry of Public Security on the issues.

Sharing this view, Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Center for Radio, Television and Film of Public Security stressed the importance of both social networks and the press and media in popularizing traffic safety regulations and correcting wrong views on traffic issues.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son reiterated that  the press and media have made great contribution in covering traffic news and highlighting the beautiful image of traffic police. He urged the traffic police force to further strengthen their relations with not only the press and media of not only the Public Security Forces but also other forces.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son also asked the Traffic Police Department to promote observance of the police discipline and prevent violations across the force to build a good image of traffic police officers in people's hearts and minds.

*On same day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son on behalf of the leaders of Ministry of Public Security met with leaders of the press and media.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son extended his thanks to the press and media for their contributions to national security, social order and traffic safety. He hoped that the Ministry Public Security and press and media continue to bolster relations so as to effectively support each other in performing their political tasks.
