PSNews - The Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security on April 18 held a conference themed "Improving efficiency of dissemination on traffic safety and building traffic culture." Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended the meeting.

The event also saw the presence of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security’s Office, Public Security (CAND) Newspaper, the Center for Radio, Television and Film of Public Security (ANTV).

At the conference, Senior Colonel Le Xuan Duc, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department pointed out some existing issues relating to traffic safety, including  an increasing number of vehicles,  inappropriate traffic planning in many roads and irrational construction of some urban residential areas, which are more likely to lead to traffic jams.

Besides, criminal activities on transport routes are increasing while the state management of traffic safety remained overlapped and decentralized due to some inappropriate regulations on road traffic.

Nevertheless, the traffic police force, as the key force in ensuring traffic safety, has contributed positively to raising the public awareness of law enforcement on traffic safety, and controlled traffic offences and accidents.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the Public Security Newspaper underlined the importance of the press and media in handling traffic issues, suggesting that the Traffic Police Department should always collaborate with the press and media to immediately report  exact information about arising issues to orient the public opinion rather than wait for instructions from leaders of the Ministry of Public Security on the issues.
