Economic police plays a key role in corruption and smuggling prevention and fight

PSNews – The Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes (Economic Police Department) in June held a conference to review its task performance in the first 6 months of 2019. Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Director of the Department chaired the event.

According to the report delivered at the meeting, in the first 6 months of 2019, the Economic Police Force discovered 168 corruption cases with 320 people involved; detected nearly 10,000 cases of other economic offences, 4,161 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, fake goods and prohibited goods, violation of intellectual property, and nearly 14,000 environmental offences.

In order to achieve such results, the economic police force has improved its ability to fight crimes, researched and invested the software project "Managing data of cases and basic professional work" for its subordinated units at both Central and local levels.

Speaking at the event, Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc stressed that, in the next 6 months of 2019, the economic police force should continue to promote their achievements and overcome its weaknesses; closely follow the key tasks in the working plan set out for the year while enhancing scientific research.

Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc also ask the economic police force to propose and prepare a plan on the new personnel arrangement according to the 4-level criteria set out by the Ministry of Public Security. 

On this occasion, 3 individuals of the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes were honored to receive Feat of Arms Orders while an officer received Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and some individuals and organizationswere also awarded Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Public Security and from the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes.
