On July 9 the family of Mrs. N.T.H (born in 1967, residing in Khuoi Cuong village, Nong Thuong Commune, Bac Kan City) treated a meal to her relatives from Ha Giang province.
After finished the meal, 8 people including Mrs. H and her husband, their daughter, son-in-law and two guests had symptoms of poisoning and lost consciousness. The neighbors immediately took them to the Bac Kan General Hospital.
According to initial findings, the patients had a soup dish of carp intestines cooked with wild vegetables and drank alcohol mixed with carp bile . The doctors have believed that the carp bile is the cause of poisoning.
The Bac Kan General Hospital urgently carried out emergency measures to save all 8 patients. By July 10, five patients had recovered, but other three patients are still in coma.
Deaths from food poisoning hit 22 nationwide
