Fire police force receives new firefighting vehicles

PSNews - The Police Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue on January 21 held a ceremony to receive new firefighting and rescue vehicles from Everdigm Group (the Republic of Korea).

The event saw the presence of Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Mr. Kim Do-Hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to Vietnam; and representatives of the Vietnamese Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue, and the South Korean partners.

This batch of equipment was under the project "Investing in equipment and facilities and building capacity for the Vietnamese Fire Police Force."

The project "Investing in equipment and facilities and building capacity for the Vietnam Fire Police Force" was approved by the Prime Minister in 2015. The project, which is financed by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the RoK in the form of concessional ODA loan, costs over 502 billion VND.

In March 2017, the Police Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue signed a contract with Everdigm Group on purchase of machinery and equipment for the project. In December 2017, Everdigm Group announced that it completed 81 firefighting vehicles, including 18 large-sized fire engines, 48 medium-sized fire engines, 2 fire truck trailers, 6 fire cranes truck and 7 rescue vehicles.

The whole design and production process of the vehicles was supervised and certificated by the RoK Fire Fighting and Prevention Institute. Everdigm Group also handed over the vehicles to the Vietnam Police Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue. The two sides also held training courses for fire police officers from 12 localities of Vietnam on the use of these vehicles.

Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, on behalf of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son thanked the RoK Government and relevant Vietnamese agencies for their close coordination with the MPS in implementing the project.

The Deputy Minister hoped that all these vehicles will effectively used by the fire police units of 12 localities in Vietnam's key economic regions.

At the ceremony, the Police Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue assigned the vehicles to the 12 provincial police units of Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai.
