The event, to be held at Ngoc Khanh Cinema from June 1-5 to mark International Children’s Day, aims to introduce outstanding children’s films from Vietnam and Sweden to the public, particularly young audiences, while promoting cultural exchange and cooperation through cinema.

Organisers said the film week will not only give children an opportunity to enjoy acclaimed films, but also help nurture creativity, aesthetic appreciation and interest in the arts through interactive activities, quizzes and literary-themed programmes.

The opening ceremony on June 1 will feature Vietnamese animated film Đáng Đời Thằng Cáo (The Fox Got What It Deserved), by director Le Minh Hien and Swedish classic Pippi Longstocking directed by Olle Hellbom.

From June 2-5, audiences will be introduced to a selection of Vietnamese animated films inspired by folklore, history and daily life, alongside well-known Swedish children’s movies including Ronia, the Robber's Daughter and The Brothers Lionheart.

A total of 14 films, including 11 Vietnamese animated titles and three Swedish feature films, will be screened during the event for audiences under 16.

The programme will also include book introductions, quizzes and interactive activities themed around Pippi Longstocking, adapted from works by renowned Swedish author Astrid Lindgren.
