Hanoi began counting down 31 days to the opening of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31).

A grand ceremony was held at Ly Thai To Statue and Hoan Kiem Lake area on April 11 to mark the event.

The event saw the presence of leaders from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, authorities of Hanoi and ambassadors of Southeast Asia countries in to Vietnam.

In his opening remarks at the event, Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh highlighted that the ceremony marked 31 days to opening of the SEA Games 31 on May 12. The SEA Games 31 is a good chance for Vietnam to promote its images and people to the international friends, he stressed.

After the ceremony, local authorities also held the Olympic Run Day for Public Health and launched the 47th edition of the Ha Noi Moi Newspaper Run. In response, participants ran along the street around Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of Restored Sword).

The race saw the participation of some 3,000 people, who are artists, professional athletes and residents of Hoan Kiem district.
