Hanoi Police awarded "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" title

PSNews - The Hanoi Municipal Police held a ceremony on March 31 to receive the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" in the resistance war against French colonists. 

The Hanoi Police force was founded in the August Revolution, (the General Uprising in August 1945), following the foundation of the Vietnam People’s Public Security Forces. From the first days of its establishment, the Hanoi Police made positive contributions to protecting the young revolutionary government in the life-or-death context.

During the resistance war against French colonists, the Hanoi police force with their ingeniousness and courage well performed the tasks of intelligence and counterintelligence,  as well as planted its spies in the headquarters of French colonists and the puppet government. They collected a good deal of strategic information and promptly discovered the enemy’s conspiracy of sabotage.  Based on the collected intelligence, they gave good advice to the Party Central Committee, and firmly ensured security and safety for Party agencies, revolutionary authorities and mass organizations in temporarily occupied areas.

In addition, the Hanoi Police in collaboration with the police forces of inter-Zone 3, Zone 4 and the police forces of neighboring provinces carried out the movement of people to deny enemy intelligence and firmly protect the base of the Municipal Party Committee and the Hanoi Resistance and Administrative Committee Resistance. They, in coordination with other forces and people, arrested many enemy spies, ensured security and order of Hanoi in all situations.

During the resistance war against French colonialists, over 200 officers of the Hanoi Police laid down their lives for the cause of national independence, and hundreds of police officers and soldiers were imprisoned.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Doan Duy Khuong, Director of the Hanoi Municipal Police Department praised the achievements and victories of the Hanoi Police Force over the past times. Major General Doan Duy Khuong affirmed that the contributions and scarifies of all generations of the Hanoi police force have contributed to the glorious victory of our nation.

With their achievements and victories since the inception, the Hanoi Municipal Police Department has been awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" in the resistance war against French colonists; title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" in the resistance war against American imperialists, and title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" in the Doi moi period.

Major General Doan Duy Khuong stressed that the Hanoi police force will continue to gain new achievements and victories, contributing to ensuring political stability, security, social order and safety, to serve effectively socio-economic development and foreign affairs of the Capital.
