"Hero of the People's Armed Forces" title conferred on outstanding public security organizations and individuals

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security on January 31 held a solemn ceremony to confer the titles "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" in the national resistance wars against French colonialists and US imperialists on 6 organizations and 9 individuals (6 individuals were posthumously rewarded).  

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Party Committee of Public Security, Minister of Public Security chaired the ceremony.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Hai Trung, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics under Ministry of Public Security reported the delegates on the honorable achievements of the previous generations.

Accordingly, during the resistance war against French colonialists (1945-1954) and the resistance war against US imperialists (1954-1975), the public security forces, the military and the people successfully protected the Party and the newly-established State as well as national independence and sovereignty, for the communist ideal and the peaceful and happy life of the people. During the wars, thousands of police officers and soldiers bravely scarified their lives for the cause of national independence and liberation. 

Senior Colonel Nguyen Hai Trung stressed that the public security forces are always grateful to the sacrifices of many compatriots and comrades, including thousands of public security martyrs for the revolutionary cause of the Party, State and nation. The public security forces always keep in mind the great contributions of their grandfather and father’s generations to the cause of protecting security and order and building the public security forces in the past. The grandfather and father’s generations are always the pride and the bright example for all public security officers and soldiers of the present generation to learn and follow.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister To Lam praised and congratulated the organizations, individuals and relatives of the martyrs who had been conferred on and posthumously awarded by the Party and State the noble titles. He hoped that these noble rewards will create a new great engine for all public security officers and soldiers to study further and work harder.

Minister To Lam affirmed that the struggle for national liberation witnessed the great contributions of the public security forces. More than 14,000 public security officers and soldiers laid down their lives, more than 5,000 were wounded, and thousands of others were recognized as revolutionary contributors.

The Minister also affirmed that, the decision to confer and posthumously confer the title of “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” is a recognition of the Party, the State and the people to the great contributions and outstanding achievements of the public security forces in general and of the honoured organizations and individuals in particular during the two resistance wars.

On behalf of all organizations and individuals receiving the titles "Hero of the People’s Armed Forces" this time, Major General Ho Viet Lam expressed his gratitude to the Party, the State, the Government, and the Ministry of Public Security as well as all revolutionary contributors. He promised to continue to study and drill in the revolutionary morality of the police, follow Uncle Ho’s six teachings while protecting the pride and glorious traditions of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces and contributing to building and protecting the country.
