Ho Chi Minh City pilots operation of security cameras

PSNews- The District 5 Police of the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Police has inaugurated the Command and Control Center with a system of public security cameras, on December 6th, in an effort to handle the local security and order situation more effectively.

The District 5 Police is the first unit of the Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City that runs a pilot project to connect all local cameras to the Command and Control Center at its Headquarters. Accordingly, all 240 cameras on the routes of 15 wards of the district will continuously send real-time images to the center. The center will process the images, and if it detects an issue, it will immediately assign relevant forces to the scene to deal with the issue.

According to experts, the camera system can be remotely controlled and integrated with a digital map. For example, when officers on duty at the center receive images of a suspect in a residential area at night, vandals or illegal motor racers, they can generate warning sounds so that police patrol forces and people can easily realize the location with security problems.

In 2017 when the system is put into operation, the center will receive and handle images from more than 1000 cameras installed in various localities. The center will also connect to other centers of units such as 113 Police and Traffic Police to collect and analyze comprehensive data, serving crime prevention and fight as well as criminal investigation. .
