Honoring new 65 Professors and 638 Associate Professors of 2016

PSNews - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended and made remarks at a ceremony to honor recognize Prof. and Assoc Prof. titles of 2016. The event was organized by the State Professor Title Council. 

The event was also participated by Mr. Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training and 65 Professors and 638 Associate Professors who have just been qualified for the titles.

Earlier, Mr. Phung Xuan Nha had led participants to visit the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, paid tribute and respect to the late cultural celebrities of Vietnam, wishing further achievements and developments to Vietnam’s education and training.

After three-level examinations, 65 Profs and 638 Ass. Profs have been qualified for their titles and met the standards for prof. and ass. Prof. titles. Of the 703 newly-qualified professors and associate professors, 66.43% come form Hanoi, 13% from Ho Chi Minh City and the remainder form other cities and provinces.

The youngest of the newly recognized Profs is Tran Dinh Thanh, 41, from Vinh University while the youngest Ass. Prof is Tran Xuan Bach, 32, from Hanoi Medical University. All of them have had research projects and scientific articles which had been highly valued by international and regional scholars and scientists.

The medical sector makes up the largest number of newly acknowledged titles with 121 ones, followed by economics.

Public Security Forces also contributed four professors and 26 associate professors to this year’s list. They are Prof. Nguyen Minh Duc, Director of Police Science Institute under the People’s Police Academy or Prof. Medial Ass. Prof. Hoang Thanh Tuyen from 19-8 Hospital.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated contributions by teachers, scientists, professors and associate professors to the country in various areas, including education and training, science and technology in particular and the national liberation and unification, development and protection cause, in general.

Participants in the ceremony also conducted a fund raising and collected some VND 300 million to support victims of floods in the Central of Vietnam.
