Hospital successfully carries out robotic surgeries on 222 patients

PSNews – The Binh Dan Hospital on October 28 held a ceremony to mark one year since its deployment of robotic surgery for adults in Vietnam.

Binh Dan Hospital is the first medical facility in Vietnam to apply the robotic technology in endoscopic surgery. Robotic surgery is the most modern technique in world in minimally invasive surgery for patients.

By now, the hospital has completed the list of 14 disease types which can be operated on using robotic surgery approved by the Ministry of Health. In addition, 14 of its doctors that recently sent abroad for training have been certified to meet international standards for robotic surgery.

Over ten months since its deployment, 222 patients have been treated with surgical robots, with 59 of them diagnosed with prostate cancer while 54 are diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

As noted by the manufacturer of the robot surgical system, 222 patients were successfully treated in the first year is a “breathtaking” and “impressive” figure compares to other large robotic surgery centers around the world.

The hospital also reduce the surgery fee for more than 60 patients with difficult circumstances.

Highly appreciating the achievements of Binh Dan Hospital in improving heath check-up quality in Ho Chi Minh City, on this occasion, the State President awarded the third-class Labor Order to the doctors and staffs of Binh Dan Hospital and Dr. Tran Vinh Hung, Director of Binh Dan Hospital.

The Ho Chi Minh Municipal People’s Committee also presented Certificates of Merit to 6 organizations and 11 individuals of the hospital.
