Local police units intensify measures to curb with COVID-19

PSNews – In the face of the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, the police forces in several southern provinces and cities have intensified measures to prevent and control the pandemic. 

*Ba Ria – Vung Tau:

In the past few days, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau traffic police force has checked people and vehicles at the gateways to Vung Tau City, while sending mobile COVID-19 check teams to patrol around the inner-city areas, especially around blockade areas.

Meanwhile, the provincial police infirmary has conducted free COVID-19 quick tests of local police officers and soldiers and people.

In addition, the Logistics Division and the Youth Union chapter of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Department in collaboration with kind donors presented gifts and necessities to policy beneficiary families, revolution contributor’s families and families living in a difficult state due to COVID-19.

The youth union chapter of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Criminal Police Division also handed over 100 personal protective clothing sets and 100 face shields to the Vung Tau City Youth Union to support the local youth union members who are joining the fight against COVID-19.

*An Giang:

The An Giang Provincial Police Force, especially the Waterway Police Force, has coordinated with other functional forces to strengthen inspection and control at waterway checkpoints to prevent COVID-19.   

In particular, police officers at COVID-19 checkpoints work around the clock, requesting people and vehicles entering the province to make medical declarations. They also used loudspeaker to ask people and vehicles to comply with COVID-19 regulations.

In addition to the anti-COVID-19 mission, the local waterway police also carried out the tasks of ensuring traffic safety and fighting against crime on waterways.

*Can Tho:

According to Major General Nguyen Van Thuan, Director of the Can Tho Municipal Police Department, in order to enhance the effectiveness and safety of all forces at local COVID-19 checkpoints, the local leadership of the city police has asked the local police forces to strictly control vehicles and people entering the city. At the same time, they promptly detected and handled  violating people and vehicles entering Can Tho City from COVID-19 hit-areas. 

In addition, the local police forces are asked to strictly handle acts against on-duty officers. The on-duty police officers and soldiers must also comply with COVID-19 regulations to ensure safety for themselves and other people.

*Soc Trang:

Lieutenant Le Hoang Vinh from the Traffic Police Team under the Soc Trang Municipal Police Department and his teammates were tasked to measure body temperatures of people and check medical declarations of drivers entering Soc Trang City from other provinces at a checkpoint on Highway No.1 through the night of July 11.

According to him, the local police forces work in shifts to carry out tasks at the COVID-19 checkpoints. Each work shift lasts 6 hours.

He also said that the work is very demanding due to a large volume of vehicles entering the city. The traffic police officers have to explain the COVID-19 regulations to people.

In addition to the anti-COVID-19 mission, the Soc Trang police forces also enhanced the tasks of ensuring traffic safety and social order and security for local people.
