"Magic eye" monitoring security and order in Hau Giang

PSNews- The new model ‘Magic eye’ to monitor security and order, which has newly been put in operation in several wars of Vi Thanh city (Hau Giang), has brought practical effective outcomes, contributing to reducing the rate of crime, ensuring local security and order, and raising locals’ awareness of law observance.

Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trang, Chief of Vi Thanh City Police (Hau Giang), said: “The security camera system has improved people’s consciousness of crime prevention. Many families are willing to fund for and offer free power connections to monitoring cameras. After all, the security and order situation in the area installed in Magic Eye has been evidently improved".

According to locals, when the security camera system has not been installed in, small burglaries happened from time to time, Burglars knew that public officers in the area always went to work during the day, they broke into their homes to steal valuable things. This caused worries and anxieties to local people.

Against this backdrop, in late May, the local police force of ward 4 proposed the local authorities of ward 5 to carry out the "security camera" model and pilot it on Le Thi Hong Gam street.

The Steering Committee of the model mobilized families living on this street to contribute funds to buying cameras. The movement was enthusiastically supported by all household. But poor families do not need to donate.

Major Nguyen Hong Vinh, Chief of the Ward 5 Police said: "The Steering Committee has installed in 7 cameras on the whole street. These 7 cameras record images of daily life activities on the route 24 / 24h and the images are then transmitted to the main servers located in the Ward Police Station. Since the birth of the system "magic eye", we have not detected any thefts in this area. "

Thanks to the effective operation, the "magic eye" system is replicated in other roads in wards 5, such as Nguyen Hue, Le Hong Phong, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ly Thuong Kiet, 19-8 ... We have total 36 security cameras, costing VND 110 million. Thanks to the security cameras, when an incident occurs, policemen in ward 5 just need to get images from the servers to handle the case ...

"People living in other routes are asking us to set up security camera systems in their areas, saying that all cost will be contributed by local families. So, we have set up plans to replicate this model in other communes and wards to ensure local security and order," said Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trang – Chief of the Vi Thanh Municipal Police.
