“Magical traffic eyes” help monitor traffic in Binh Dinh

PSNews – The traffic camera system has positively changed the traffic situation and social order in Binh Dinh Province over the past time.

The Cau Ganh intersection used to be a black spot of traffic accidents in Binh Dinh Province. Accidents, including serious ones killing a number of people, often occurred in this area due to the high density of people and vehicle.

In this situation, in 2019, the Binh Dinh Traffic Police Division advised leaders of the Binh Dinh Provincial Police Department to propose the Provincial People's Committee to install a traffic camera system along the route.

The traffic camera system has positively changed the traffic situation and social order in Binh Dinh Province over the past time.

According to Chief of the Traffic Safety Dissemination Team under the Binh Dinh Traffic Police Division Lieutenant Colonel Tran Hong Quang, the camera system at the Cau Ganh intersection consists of dozens of “magic eyes”.

Each magical eye monitors the traffic, record traffic violations in a section of the area, and then sends the data to the Binh Dinh Traffic Police Division for handling.

Since the traffic camera system came into operation, the traffic safety situation in the Cau Ganh intersection has changed noticeably.

“In the past, the traffic situation here was very complicated. I felt scared every time I passed it. Since the security camera was installed, accidents have rarely occurred in the area. People going through the intersection feel much securer now," shared Nguyen Thi Hoa, a local.

In addition to the Cau Ganh intersection, key traffic routes in Binh Dinh Province, such as the 1A Highway, the 19C Highway, or the Vo Nguyen Giap – Dong Da intersection have been installed with traffic cameras.

Since the beginning of 2022, the Binh Dinh Traffic Police Division has detected over 2,150 cases of traffic safety violations, thanks to the security camera system.

“The traffic camera system has brought much benefit. In the coming time, we will maintain and improve the efficiency of the installed cameras. We will also advise the Directorate of the Binh Dinh Provincial Police Department to install more cameras at important intersections”, said Deputy Head of the Binh Dinh Provincial Traffic Police Division Colonel Ngo Duc Hoai.
