The Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee and the Fatherland Front of Hung Yen province organized a ceremony to respond to the program "Joining hands to build houses for poor households and victims of Agent Orange in Hung Yen province in 2023,” on the afternoon of March 13, 2023. Present at the event were Minister of Public Security General To Lam.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc.

Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Nghia, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Quoc Toan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Quoc Van as well as representatives of donors and benefactors.

According to statistics, there are still more than 7,800 poor households in Hung Yen province and nearly 5,500 victims of Agent Orange, of which nearly 1,000 households have downgradedhomes, but they have no moneyto repair their homes or build new ones.

The program "Joining hands to build houses for poor households and victims of Agent Orange in Hung Yen province" is of profound humanistic meaning as it conveys the message of compassion, sharing and policy of "no one is left behind", contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party and State, and building Hung Yen – a revolutionary cradle as a developed and prosperous province.

At the event, Mr. Tran Quoc Van sincerely thanked leaders of the Party and State, General To Lam and the Ministry of Public Security, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, branches, business community and people for supporting and assisting the Party Committee, government and people of Hung Yen province in ensuring social security, supporting the poor.

He also expressed gratitude to donating businesses and benefactors who have generously provided assistance to poor and disadvantaged people in the province over the years. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on all agencies, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to actively participate in supporting poor families and victims of Agent Orange so that they can have a concrete house and a stable life.

Speaking at the conference, General To Lam emphasized that our Party and State have always been consistent in the policy of economic development in association with sustainable poverty reduction by helping poor people and those with meritorious service to the revolution and affected by the war. 

The Minister said, poverty reduction, which is a goal and also a requirement for sustainable development, is a major policy and a national program rich in humanity, demonstrating the goodtradition and good nature of our nation. Over the past time, the Ministry of Public Security has paid attention to improving the quality of life of the poor, people facing difficulties and tribulations in life, and victims of Agent Orange across the country. 

To date, the Ministry of Public Security has supported the construction of more than 12,000 houses and many boarding schools nationwide in the provinces of Son La, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa, Lang Son, and Hoa. Binh, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Nghe An, to name but a few.

Right at the conference, organization and individual donors committed to offering financial assistance to Hung Yen province to implement the program.
