Minister To Lam congratulated Mr. Nikorndej Balankura on his new post and wished him a successful term of office in Vietnam.

The host emphasized that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand over the years in the fields of politics, economics, culture and society, security and defense have been consolidated, contributing to the stable and sustainable development of the two countries in particular and the region in general, especially after the two countries elevated their bilateral relations to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership.

On that basis, the relationship between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and relevant Thai agencies has been maintained. The two sides have actively coordinated in exchanging information and transnational crime situations, tracking and arresting wanted criminals, and expelling individuals who take advantage of the Thai territory to conduct activities against Vietnam.

Functional forces of the two countries have effectively cooperated in investigating and dismantling criminal groups trafficking illicit drugs from a third country to Thailand through Vietnam and vice versa. They also boosted cooperation in training personnel, providing aid and equipment for anti-narcotics efforts.

Minister To Lam suggested the two sides promote the signing of an extradition agreement as a basis for law enforcement forces of the two countries, continue to share experience in the fields of immigration, tourism and investment management, strengthen coordination in handling cases related to citizens of the two countries, and enhance cooperation in the field of staff training and retraining.

For his part, the newly appointed Thai Ambassador thanked Minister To Lam for the kind reception and promised to do his best during his term of office in Vietnam to promote the multifaceted relations between Vietnam and Thailand.
