General To Lam, Politburo’s Member and Minister of Public Security, leading a delegation visited officers and soldiers of the Police Aviation Regiment under the Mobile Police Command on the occasion of the upcoming 2022 Lunar New Year.
Senior Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Trung, Commander of the Regiment briefed the Minister on work results of the unit in 2021, saying that, although the Regiment was newly established, it has actively coordinated with the People’s Air Force and professional units under the Ministry of Defense to study and draft legal documents regulating flights and related operations of the unit.
In his keynote speech, Minister To Lam said that the Law on Mobile Police, if it is passed by the National Assembly and takes effect, will create a legal basis for the police aviation force to develop strongly.
Minister To Lam asked the Police Aviation Regiment continue in the coming time to build and consolidate the organizational apparatus and functions of the new force while learning experience from the Vietnam People’s Air Force and other countries, and training skills for police pilots.
Minister To Lam believed that the Police Aviation Regiment will gradually develop and be ready to perform any combat tasks assigned to them.
The Ministry of Public Security debuted the Police Aviation Regiment in a ceremony chaired by Minister General To Lam on October 11, 2021.
The regiment is a sub-unit under the Mobile Police Command responsible for managing and conducting air operations to serve various purposes of police training, law enforcement, disaster relief, search and rescue, and national security protection.
