Minister’s visits contribute to promoting cooperation in crime combat with Laos, Malaysia and Brunei

General To Lam, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security, from February 10 to 15 visited Laos, Malaysia and Brunei at the invitation of the Minister of Public Security of Laos, Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia and Second Minister of Defense and Chairman of the National Security Committee of Brunei.

The visits were of great success, contributing to promoting the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Malaysia and Brunei in general, between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and law enforcement agencies of the three countries in particular.

Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith appreciated the official visit to Lao PDR by Minister To Lam and the high level delegation of the MPS of Vietnam, expressed his satisfaction about the effective coordination between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Lao Ministry of Security over the past years, particularly in crime prevention and combat and personnel training. He hoped that the ties between the two sides would further grow for the sake of each country’s socio-economic development and external affairs.

Malaysian King Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah noted expressed delight at the fruitful development of the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as of the relations between the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs and the Vietnamese MPS. He also spoke highly of the results of the talks held earlier between the two delegations and hoped that the two sides will continue to promote their cooperation in various fields, especially in the fight against crime.

Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah highly appreciated the visit by Minister To Lam and the MPS high-level delegation, saying that the visit would contribute to strengthening the cooperation between Brunei and Vietnam as well as between the law enforcement agencies of Brunei and the MPS of Vietnam. He suggested that in the coming time, the two sides continue to strengthen cooperation, especially in prevention and combat of transnational crimes, terrorism, drug-related crime, cyber crime and economic crime.

Apart from the official meetings and talks, during his visits Minister To Lam and his delegation also paid calls to Vietnamese Embassies in the countries and local law enforcement units.
