Ministry of Public Security holds webinar reviewing implementation of Project 06

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security organized a nationwide webinar to review the 6-month implementation of the project on enhancing the application of population data, e-identification and e-authentication in national digital transformation in the period 2022-2025 with a vision to 2030 (Project 06), on August 17.

Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, Head of the Government's Project 06 Working Group Head of the Project 06 Steering Committee of the Ministry of Public Security, General To Lam chaired the video-conference connecting the Ministry of Public Security Headquarters and provincial-level police departments nationwide.

Addressing the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online conference with the participation of leaders from the Central level to the communal level to review the 6 months of the implementation of Project 06, on August 9, 2022, which displayed the strong resolve of the Government to realize Project 06.

During the event, the Prime Minister underlined the key role of the Public Security Forces in the implementation of Project 06, and considered the project as one of the breakthrough contents of the  national digital transformation process, contributing to implementing the three strategic breakthroughs set out by the Document of the 13th National Party Congress.

On the basis of the objectives, requirements and tasks of Project 06 as well as the tasks and responsibilities of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam asked all participants to focus on assessing the results of the Ministry of Public Security’s cleaning, updating and managing population data, as well as issuing e-ID cards, personal e-identification numbers and e-identification accounts to citizens.

The minister also asked delegates to point out shortcomings and limitations regarding the responsibilities of the police units at all levels, and propose measures to ensure sustainable, long-term "correct, sufficient, clean, live" population data in order to improve the efficiency of residence management, residential area management and criminal management, contributing to preventing and controlling crime and law offences. 

Minister To Lam proposed delegates to assess online public services provided by the Ministry of Public Security as well as its subordinate agencies and units, and comment on network security, information safety, transmission line, confidentiality, expenses, means, human resources for the project. 

Regarding major tasks in the coming time, Minister To Lam asked all public security agencies and units to effectively perform their functions of advising the Government, Party committees and local authorities to step up the implementation of Project 06, step up the implementation of  the removal of paper household registration books and paper temporary residence books from January 1, 2023 in accordance with the Law on Residence (amended).
