PSNews - Minister of Public Security General To Lam chaired an online conference to summarize the peak of campaign to inspect and handle violations of traffic order and safety regulations, on the afternoon of October 24.

The conference was connected between delegates from the Ministry of Public Security Headquarters in Hanoi and those from provincial-level police departments of all the 63 cities and provinces.

Reports at the conference stated, after 3 months of implementing Plan No. 299 dated June 13, 2022 on inspection and handling of violations of traffic safety regulations (Plan 299), and Official Dispatch No.76 signed by the Minister of Public Security on July 13, 2022, the traffic situation has seen a positive change.

The campaign has also improved the sense of responsibility of the traffic force as well as the public awareness of observing traffic safety regulations.

During the past three months, the traffic police force detected and handled 788,607 cases of traffic safety violations, including 47,224 cases of oversizing and overloading vehicles, and 112,337 cases of speeding.

In the period of time, the country saw 2,595 traffic accidents, killing 1,406 people and injuring 1,828 others, down by 360 cases (12.18%), 239 deaths (14.53%), and 148 injured people (7.49%).

Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam acknowledged and praised the effort of the traffic police units nationwide in recent years.

The online conference is connected between the headquarters of the Ministry of Pulic Security and provincial-level police departments.

The Minister also frankly pointed out some shortcomings in maintaining traffic order and safety and directed the traffic police force in some localities to continue patrolling and handling traffic order and safety violations according to Plan 299.

Regarding key tasks for the force in the coming time, the Minister suggested that traffic police units at all levels should focus on checking vehicles on key routes and areas, and strictly handle traffic violations related to driving under the influence.

Meanwhile, the traffic force should continue to enhance public education on the Traffic Law and traffic safety regulations to raise the public awareness of observance of traffic safety regulations.
