Ministry of Public Security's "2023 Tree Planting Festival - For a Green Vietnam" launched in Phu Tho

PSNews - Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General To Lam presided over a ceremony to launch "2023 tree planting festival - For a green Vietnam" in the headquarters of the Phu Tho Provincial Police Department in Viet Tri city, on the morning of January 31, 2023.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Minister To Lam emphasized that, in response to the call of President Ho Chi Minh, all Vietnamese people have participated in the "Tree Planting Festival" since the 1960 Lunar New Year. 

“Indeed, the "Tree Planting Festival" has really brought great benefits to the country and has become a good tradition and practice of our people in the New Year,” said Minister To Lam.

Minister To Lam stressed the need to couple socio-economic development with sustainable environmental protection, saying that this has become a popular trend and a vital requirement of each country. 

In February 2021, the Ministry of Public Security issued Plan 45 to implement the "Tree planting festival" movement in the entire Public Security Forces, and so far the forces have planted more than 5 million trees, of which 2 million are planted in the campus of agencies and units under the Ministry of Public Security while 3 million trees have been planted in detention facilities managed by the Ministry of Public Security.

Minister To Lam suggested that heads of all public security agencies and units thoroughly understand the purpose and meaning of the tree planting festival and plant trees in accordance with the conditions of their agencies and units and in a practical, efficient and economical manner. 

Police units should also coordinate with local Party committees, authorities and people to step up environmental protection and raise the sense of responsibility of each officer and soldier in protecting environment and preserving green, clean, beautiful and safe working landscape of their offices.

* Earlier, Minister To Lam had presided over the incense offering ceremony and planted trees at the Hung Kings Temple historical relic site.

* On the same day, General To Lam led a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security to work with the Standing Board of the Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee, with the participation of Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Phu Tho province Bui Minh Chau as well as leaders of departments and branches of Phu Tho province.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam expressed his joy and congratulated the Party Committee, government and people of Phu Tho province on the outstanding results in recent years, and informed the delegates of the outstanding achievements that the entire People's Public Security Forces have obtained over the past time, saying that the effort of the forces has been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, State and people.

Regarding a number of key tasks for the province in the coming time, Minister To Lam suggested that the Party committees and authorities of Phu Tho province continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW issued on February 10, 2022, by the Politburo on socio-economic development, national defense and security in the Northern Midlands and Mountains by 2030, with a vision to 2045 while further implementing the Government's Project No. 06 on the application of population, electronic identification and authentication data for national digital transformation in the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030.
