About 500 top-ranking police officials, ministers, and senior law enforcement officials from more than 140 countries are attending the three-day meeting of the INTERPOL General Assembly.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc delivered a speech at the plenary session themed “International cooperation in crime prevention and control in the post-COVID-19 period”.

In his speech, the Vietnamese head delegate highlighted the efforts of the MPS of Vietnam, including the police sector, under the direction of the Government and with the support of the people, took creative measures to realize the dual goals of preventing and fighting crime, ensuring security and order as well as controlling the pandemic, creating favorable conditions for the country's socio-economic development.

The Vietnamese Police Force has fully implemented international commitments, preventing and combating transnational crimes within the framework of INTERPOL.

As the pandemic is gradually being controlled and the world is step by step opening up, criminal activities will likely increase and become more complicated.

Law enforcement agencies of countries around the world, including INTERPOL, warned that transnational fraud, hi-tech crime, trans-border human trafficking, illegal immigration, sexual abuse, as well as production, sale and trade of fake goods, will increase, threatening security, public order and safety of each country around the world.

In order to solve the problem, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc suggested that the police forces of member countries should coordinate with one another closely and more effectively with high trust and responsibility to control crimes, facilitate socio-economic development and safeguard their people.

He also urged INTERPOL leaders and police commanders of member countries to take advantage of INTERPOL as a regular cooperation channel to share information and experience in investigating and handling cases related to transnational organized crimes, especially in the current context of complicated development of the pandemic. Police of member countries should strive for the dual goal of controlling the pandemic and ensuring security, public order and safety in their countries.
