MPS delegation checks prevention and control of nCoV in Khanh Hoa

PSNews – A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), led by Major General Nguyen Khac Thuy, Director of the Health Department, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee on Epidemic Prevention and Control of the MPS, on February 9 checked prevention and control of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) at the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police Department and the Cam Ranh International Airport.

According to Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Ngan, Deputy Director of the Khanh Hoa Police, its Logistics Division has directly inspected the situation at all local police units and supplied medicines, sterilizing chemicals and 1,850 facemasks to them.

The provincial police infirmary also sprayed disinfectants at the local police units and prepared a sufficient amount of medicines and chemicals for a possible infection situation of 2019-nCoV.

The local police officers and soldiers strictly followed health protection measures. To date, no officer of the Khanh Hoa police force has been infected with the 2019-nCoV.

At Cam Ranh Airport, Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Quan, Head of the Cam Ranh Airport Police Station reported that before the epidemic there were 13,000 Chinese tourists on average entering and exiting Vietnam through Cam Ranh airport every day, accounting for 70% of the total number of passengers.

Amid the 2019-nCoV epidemic, the airport authority temporary has banned all flights from Wuhan, China since January 24, and all flights from Cam Ranh to China since January 27. Since February 1, all China – Cam Ranh flights have been cancelled.

The Police Station at Cam Ranh Airport in collaboration with the Khanh Hoa International Quarantine Center have also increased inspections over 2019-nCoV prevention at units and health checks of passengers.

From January 4 to February 7, the Police Station of Cam Ranh Airport were provided with 5,600 facemasks, 5,600 pairs of gloves, 400 bottles of mouthwash, 200 bottles of hand sanitizer in an effort to prevent 2019-nCoV.

To date, no officer of the Cam Ranh Airport’s Police Station has been infected with the nCoV.

At the working session, the Health Department also presented the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police Department with an amount of medicine and equipment with a total value of nearly 100 million VND.
