MPS launches campaign to ensure security and safety for election of NA, People's Councils

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a video conference on May 12 in Hanoi to launch a nationwide campaign to ensure security and safety for the election of the 15th National Assembly (NA) and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.

The event, connected with the police departments of all provinces and municipalities nationwide, was chaired by General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, Member of the Politburo and Member of the National Election Council. The event also saw the attendance of Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly, and Head of the National Election Council.

At the conference, Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Subcommittee on Security and Order for election of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term, briefed the delegates on the work of ensuring security for the election since July last year.

Accordingly, the Public Security Forces (PSF) have actively deployed measures and plans to safeguard the significant event. So far, preparations in terms of security for the election day have been basically completed, he added.

Addressing the event, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue hailed the efforts of the PSF and relevant forces over the past time. The NA Chairman also asked the forces to be on high alert and ready to deploy plans, forces and means to ensure absolute security and safety for the election day.

Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam affirmed the PSF’s determination to successfully fulfill the assigned tasks, saying the PSF will closely coordinate with relevant forces to effectively and comprehensively implement plans and measures to safeguard the event. 

The forces have had plans to respond to any possible security-related situations arising during the election, the Minister emphasized.

At the conference, Minister To Lam launched the campaign to ensure security and safety for the upcoming election.

On behalf of the PSF, Major General Le Hong Nam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Police Department vowed to exert all-out efforts to ensure absolute security and safety for the significant political event of the country.
