MPS launches press contest “For National Security and peaceful life”

PSNews – A press contest aims at affirming the important role of the press and media as a bridge connecting the public security forces and the people, and honoring journalistic products featuring the tasks of the Public Security Forces.

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on May 17 in collaboration with the Vietnam Journalists’ Association launched the press contest themed “For National Security and peaceful life” in the period 2019-2020.

At the launching ceremony, on behalf of the organizing committee, Major General Mai Van Ha, Director of the Information and Communications Department under the MPS announced the Decision and Plan for organizing the press contest while journalist Tran Ba Dung, Head of the Professional Affairs Division under the Vietnam Journalists’ Association announced the rules of the contest.

According to the organizing committee, this is a large and meaningful press contest, aiming to commemorate the 75th Traditional Day of the Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945-2020), the 15th Festive Day of “All people protecting National Security” (August 19, 2005-2020), and the 95th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2020). It also aims at promoting the important role of the press in connecting the public security forces and the people.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh stressed that the press and media nationwide have contributed importantly to the overall task accomplishment and achievements of the Public Security Forces. The glorious victories as well as sacrifices of the Public Security Forces in protecting political security, maintaining social order and safety and the peaceful life for the people have vividly been reflected in press publications and media programs.

Therefore, one of the aims of this contest is to recognize and honor the journalists and people from all walks of life who write good articles and produce good media products on the topic “For National Security and peaceful life.”

For his part, Mr. Ho Quang Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, co-head of the contest’s organizing committee said that the press and media sector and the Public Security Forces have a close relationship and cooperation. The two sectors shared the task of protecting the Party, political system and national interests and the people.

According to Mr. Ho Quang Loi, in recent years, the press contest "For National Security and peaceful life" has successfully been organized by the MPS in collaboration with the Vietnam Journalists Association; received strong support from the association and all press and media agencies within and outside the Public Security Forces. In each past edition of the contest, the organizers received thousands of entries with high quality, which has shown that the press contest "For National Security and peaceful life" is one of the most wide-spread press contest at the national level.

Mr. Ho Quang Loi also affirmed that the press contest "For National Security and peaceful life" has helped raise the important and effective role of the press in the cause of national protection and development.

The press contest "For National Security and peaceful life" will start receiving entries from May 20, 2019 to July 19, 2020.

The contest’s prizes includes 4 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 12 third prizes, 20 consolation prizes and some other awards for press and media agencies, press sub-associations and organizations with great contributions to the contest.
