MPS reviews 3-years of implementation of the Politburo’s Directive No.5

PSNews – The Central Party Committee of Public Security on August 23 held a conference to review 3-years implementation of the Politburo's Directive No.5 on enhancing the movement “Learning and following Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, morals and lifestyle” on the occasion of 50 years of implementation of President Ho Chi Minh’s testament.

The meeting was chaired by General To Lam, Politburo’s member, Secretary of the Central Party Committee of Public Security, Minister of Public Security, and also attended by members of the Party Central Committee, standing members of the Central Party Committee of Public Security, Deputy Ministers of Public Security: Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh.

Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam affirmed that the Central Party Committee of Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) always consider Directive No.5 of the Politburo as a key mission of the whole forces. Leaders of the MPS have also issued many documents guiding under-ministerial agencies and local police units to implement the directive.

Alongside the moment “Learning and following Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, morals and lifestyle”, the MPS also launched the campaign “Building public security officers’ manners of bravery, humanity and devotedness to the people”, which was seen as one of the important solutions to successful implementation of Directive No.5 of the Politburo and the 12th Party Central Committee’s Resolution No.04.

After 3 years of the implementation of Directive No.5, public security agencies and units have achieved many fruitful results, while leaders and officers and soldiers of public security agencies and units at all levels have heightened their sense of responsibility for work.

Minister To Lam affirmed that the conference aimed to evaluate comprehensively the results and achievements, as well as to point out shortcomings and limitations, lessons learned from the 3-years implementation. The event also honored good and creative models in implementing Directive No.5 and discuss measures to further implement the Directive in the coming time.

At the conference, Major General Dao Gia Bao, Director of the Department of Party and Political Work also briefed the delegates on the 3-year implementation of Directive No.5.

Over the last 3 years, 5 outstanding officers and soldiers have been praised and awarded by Central agencies.

From 2016 to the first quarter of 2019, 29 public security officers and soldiers were killed and over 1,000 others were injured while performing their duties.

According to Major General Dao Gia Bao, many public security agencies and units have sought innovative and good ways to implement the directive. At the event,  over 500 effective models in implementing the directive was honored.
