Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong emphasized that the Law has created a legal foundation for relevant forces to prevent and fight drug-related crimes. Since the issuance of the Law, the Law has been enforced seriously, contributing to improving the effectiveness of drug prevention and combat.

In an effort to bring the Law into life, relevant forces have promoted dissemination and education of the law in communities, and mobilized various agencies, organizations and people from all walks of life to participate in the fight against drug abuse as well as in detoxification and rehabilitation of addicts.

Based on the law, relevant police forces increased attacks on drug-related crimes; as a result they cracked down on various transnational drug rings and seized a great amount of drug of all kinds.

Delegates reviewed outcomes of units’ enforcement of the law, pointed out shortcomings and difficulties in enforcing the law, and discussed solutions to these issues. Several delegates also pointed out that the inconsistency and a synchrony of the available legal documents on drug prevention and control negatively affected the enforcement of the Law.

He also highlighted the importance of promoting coordination and cooperation among domestic and foreign forces in the fight against drugs. He requested all functional units to well implement the Politburo’s Directive 36-CT/TW on enhancing the efficiency of drug prevention and combat.
