MPS reviews preparations for UN Convention against Cybercrime signing ceremony

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security held a meeting to review the preparation for the upcoming signing ceremony of the United Nations (UN) Convention against Cybercrime on the morning of August 6, in Hanoi.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung chaired the meeting.

The meeting also saw the presence of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang and representatives from functional departments under the two ministries and the National Cybersecurity Association.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung underscored that the Convention’s signing ceremony is an important international event reflecting the international community’s confidence in Vietnam’s capacity, commitment and responsibility in addressing global non-traditional security challenges.

At the meeting, leaders of the Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-tech Crimes and the Office of the Ministry of Public Security presented reports on the preparation for the upcoming signing ceremony.

Under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Minister Pham The Tung and Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang, delegates from relevant units and agencies engaged in in-depth discussions on issues related to the signing ceremony, particularly remaining difficulties in preparing for the event, and propose approaches to solve the issues, make best preparations and ensure security and safety for the  signing ceremony.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang stressed that Vietnam’s hosting of the Convention’s signing ceremony holds great significance as it helps promote the country’s position and role in the international arena.

He suggested that the two ministries continue to coordinate closely in the preparatory work, proactively advise the higher-level authorities on approaches to address difficulties, and mobilize maximum efforts to successfully organize the signing ceremony and its sideline events in accordance with international conventions and practices.

In his concluding remarks, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung requested all relevant units to exert their utmost efforts to fulfill their assignments to ensure the event’s comprehensive success in terms of content, security, safety and diplomatic protocol, contributing to promoting the image and identity of Vietnam to international friends.

He also stressed the need to leverage the experience gained from organizing major international events, especially the most recent P4G Summit, take all necessary measures to ensure absolute security and safety, leaving no room for unexpected situations, even minor errors, during the organization of the Convention’s signing ceremony.
