MPS’s Department for Information and Communications holds Party Congress

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended the 1st Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term of the Department for Information and Communication (DIC) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on August 26.

According to the draft political report delivered by Lieutenant General Mai Van Ha, Director of the DIC, following the Government's Decree No. 01, the Party organization of the DIC was constituted of the Party sub-organizations of the Public Security Newspaper, the Public Security Center for Radio, Television and Film, and the Publishing House of the Public Security Forces.

In the 2015-2020 term, the former Party Committees of the three units and the later-formed Party Committee of the current DIC grasped thoroughly directives, resolutions and guidelines of the Party Central Committee, the Public Security Central Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security, the former General Department of Politics as well as the Resolutions of the congresses of the three successor Party organizations in the 2015-2020 term. After the establishment of the Party organization of the DIC, the Party Committee stood united and led all sub-units of the department to comprehensively implement and fulfill their assigned tasks.

Since August 2018, the Party Committee of the DIC have directed the units to overcome all shortcomings while renovating and improving the quality of the television programs, newspapers, publications and public security movies. The Party Committee led the department to develop toward a multimedia journalism model.

Under the leadership of the Party Committee, subunits of the department actively coordinated with local police units to get information about their operations and victories. Over the past five years, the public security press and media published more than 4,000 pieces of journalism of all kinds, reflecting outstanding achievements of public security units and individuals, particularly examples of police officers in the fight against crimes, and role models in the emulation movement “For National Security”.

The DIC also disseminated major political, economic, cultural and social events of the country, such as the 90th founding anniversary of the Party, the 65th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 50th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s testament, the 130th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the 75th founding anniversary of the PSF and the 15th “All People Protecting National Security” Festive Day.

Nearly 9,000 pieces of journalism of all kinds have been published or broadcasted, covering information about the situation and complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the effort of the PSF in preventing and fighting against this disease.

Speaking at the Congress, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the MPS, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh applauded the Party organization of the DIC for its achievements in the last term.

The Deputy Minister asked the Party organization of the DIC to further develop a contingent of skillful reporters and editors while strongly fighting wrong and hostile views and manifestations of degradation, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation."  

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh urged all members of the DIC Party organization to uphold their sense of responsibility and determination and continuously promote the rich tradition of their unit to successfully fulfill the goals set at the Congress for the next term.

At the Congress, delegates elected a Party Executive Committee for the new term and a delegation to attend the 7th Public Security Party Congress.
