Sen village is the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh.

The highlight of the festival’s opening ceremony was a concert gathering more than 600 local artists.

The same day, provincial leaders and organisations laid wreaths at the Uncle Ho Statue in Vinh City’s Ho Chi Minh Square. A procession carrying photos of President Ho Chi Minh from his memorial house at the Kim Lien relic site to Lang Sen Stadium also took place.

Lasting until May 19, the festival features various activities, including film screenings, camping and sporting events, a photo exhibition, a musical festival and a kite flying contest.

The Sen Village Festival, first held in 2003, helps visitors from across the country and abroad understand more about the life of President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s preeminent hero and a world cultural icon. The event is held annually at provincial level and once every five years at national level on the occasion of the President’s birthday.
