Northern border province intensifies tourism promotion

Authorities of the northern border province of Lang Son take promotion as an important work to develop the local tourism and have paid great attention to the popularisation of its images to the people both inside and outside the country, according to insiders.

They have worked out many plans and programmes to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector. Tourist attractions in the province have been broadcast through various channels, and events bearing its hallmarks held on a regular basis with a view to make them known to potential visitors.

Director of the Lang Son Tourism Promotion Information Centre Tran Thi Bich Hanh revealed that since 2018, the centre has published and republished over 10,000 products, providing useful information on festivals and community-based tourism activities in various localities in the province.

Tourism promotion has also been intensified through electronic networks. Many websites have been set up, attracting tens of thousands of visits. It is noteworthy that in early March this year, a tourism portal at https://langsontourism.com.vn and a smart tourism application on mobile phones started its operation.

Besides, provincial tourism authorities have also joined hands with others to conduct many programmes to explore new destinations and hold various symposiums, providing a deeper look into potential of the province. They have taken an active part in tourism trade fairs to look for partners, both foreign and domestic.

As a result, the number of tourists to Lang Son in the first five months of this year topped 1.5 million, marking an increase of 8.3 percent year on year. Of the total, foreign visitors numbered 187,400. Tourism revenue in the period under review amounted to 761 billion VND (over 32.5 million USD), an increase of nearly 60 percent year on year.
