People's Police College 1 starts new academic year

PSNews - On October 29th, People’s Police College 1 held a grand ceremony to open the 2016-2017 academic year with the participation of Lieutenant General, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

Present at the grand ceremony were also Major General Pham Van Dan, former General Director of the General Department of Politics, Ministry of Public Security; Major General Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Office of the Public Security Ministry; Major General, Prof. Dr. Bui Minh Giam, Deputy General Director of  the General Department of Politics, Ministry of Public Security, representatives from functional units of Public Security, police and public security academies and schools.

At the ceremony, Senior Colonel, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Bui Quang Vu, School Rector said that the board of Directors, school’s teachers, officers and students with great unity and determination have overcome all difficulties to gain numerous achievements in learning, practicing and teaching.

In the 2015-2016 academic year, the college well organized the entrance exam and enrolled in 1,724 new students; trained 4,926 students in total. With these achievements, the college was awarded Government's Emulation Flag; 3 units of the college received Emulation Flags of the Ministry of Public Security; and one unit received Emulation Flag of the General Political Department.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee and leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, highly appreciated the efforts of all  teachers, officers and students of the People's Police College 1. He also praised the recent successes in education and training of the school.

The Deputy Minister said: "Over the past 51 years of construction and development, the People’s Police College 1 has trained more than 200,000 public security officers and soldiers at the higher-education level for provincial public security forces in the North. The school has contributed greatly to the missions of the Public Security Forces, in protecting national security, preserving social order and supporting national economic and social development in the country ".

Highly advocating the school’s directions and goals for the new academic year, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh suggested the college continue to drastically innovate the school’s organization, operation and training, actively improve the quality of training by frequently renewing teaching methods
The college should also draw up plans to augment capacities of teachers and education managers as well as well organize its staff together with seek high-profile visiting lecturers from other institutions inside and out side the forces.

Deputy Minister suggest promoting self-study and student-centered education; develop creative thinking ability of students  so that graduates can have professional skills to deal with complex situations in their future careers.

The school was also asked to promote emulation movements among the staff and gradually improve the curriculum and teaching materials as well as actively improve the quality of scientific research by strengthening the cooperation on research outcome application with public security agencies and units.

The school was instructed to gradually upgrade its facility system, to invest in modern technologies, to comprehensively expand international cooperation on police force training with other countries in Southeast Asia so as to learn their experience, absorb their scientific and technological achievements and seek international investment for the development of the school.

Also at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh presented flowers and books to the school, and planted sapling in the campus. He also joined former leaders and incumbents, school’s staff, officers and cadets in raising fund for  victims of recent flooding in Northern Center.
