PSNews - A fire drill was held by the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Police Department in the Saigon River Tunnel, Ho Chi Minh City, in May with the particpation of nearly 1,300 officers and 88 vehicles.

The on-spot fire fighting team of the Urban Traffic Management and Operations Center immediately tried to put out the fire and inform the HCMC Fire Police Division.

Fire police force in collaboration with other forces deployed efforts and equipment to rescue victims and extinguish the fire

Meaningwhile, the fire kept spreading, causing chaotic and congestion at both ends of the tunnel.

As soon as being reported on the fire, 88 vehicles from local fire police units raced to the scence in collaboration with other forces deployed efforts and equipment to rescue victims and extinguish the fire while guiding the traffic.

According to Senior Colonel Huynh Quang Tam, Head of the HCMC Fire Police Division, the drill aimed to raise people’s awareness of fire prevention and fighting and rescue in projects and facilities with high risk of fire and expolision in HCMC.

The drill also provided a good chance for the local fire fighting forces to improve their skills and readiness for fire fighting and rescue work in all situations.
