An interdisciplinary inspection team constituted of the Provincial Economic Police Division, Market Management Authority, and Veterinary Agency has been formed, conducted mobile checks and inspected checkpoints on gateways to the province. To minimize the risk of an AFS outbreak in the province, the Tay Ninh Provincial Police in collaboration with other functional forces have deployed an Emergency Response Plan.
In particular, the Tay Ninh police forces have closely cooperated with the Border Guard, the Customs and the Market Management forces to detect and strictly handle acts of illegal trading and transportation of ill pigs across the border.
According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Police Department, the Provincial People's Committee also issued a decision to set up 4 temporary animal quarantine checkpoints at the gateways to Tay Ninh with police officers on 24/24 watch. The local authority will set up more temporary checkpoints and interdisciplinary inspection teams in case the situation of the ASF epidemic becomes worse.
Dong Nai Province is considered as the gateway to the South, on which pigs and pork are often transported from the North to the South for consumption. Therefore, Dong Nai plays a very important role in preventing ASF from spreading to the southern region. This is also the largest pig breeding area in Vietnam with a total number of over 2.5 million pigs.
