Policeman posthumously awarded “Hero of People’s Armed Forces” title

PSNews - The authority and people of Gia Phong commune (Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province) on March 25 held a ceremony to pay tribute to late police officer Dinh Van Cat, former head of the PK30 Division of Ninh Binh Provincial Police Department. The police officer was posthumously awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the Party and the State.

The ceremony saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Nam, Acting Director of the General Department of Politics under Ministry of Public Security.

At the ceremony, Minister To Lam and delegates offered incense to the late hero Dinh Van Cat. Senior Colonel Dinh Hoang Dung, Director of the Ninh Binh Provincial Police recalled the revolutionary career and the silent victories of officer Dinh Van Cat. 

Hero Dinh Van Cat was born and grew up in a revolutionary province, and joined the Public Security Forces in 1948. During the two resistance wars against foreign invaders, he experienced a number of positions but fulfilled all assigned tasks.

After a period of time working as secret agent in the enemy force, officer Dinh Van Cat was posted to his home province and promoted as Chief of the Gia Vien District Police and Head of the Cultural Protection Division under the Provincial Police Department. In all working environments, he always showed his good virtues and followed Uncle Ho’s six teachings to the revolutionary police officer. He made a large contribution to the victories of the local police force in particular and the Public Security Forces in particular.

With his achievements and victories, officer Dinh Van Cat was presented with many noble titles and awards from authorities at various levels. Especially, on January 26, he was posthumously awarded the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the State President.

On behalf of Dinh Van Cat's family, Mr. Dinh Duy Trinh extended his thanks to the support and the care of the people as well as of leaders of Ministry of Public Security for police officer Dinh Van Cat. The family of comrade Dinh Van Cat promised to promote the tradition of the nation and of their heroic father and grandfather, and continue to study and work hard to contribute to the cause of national development and defense.
