PSF reviews task performance in July 2021

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a conference on July 19 in Hanoi to review task performances of the Public Security Forces (PSF) in July 2021.

General To Lam, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security, chaired the conference. It also saw the presence of members of the Public Security Central Party Committee, leaders of the MPS, representatives from various under-ministerial units, and the Hanoi police.

During July 2021, the MPS leadership directed the PSF to effectively roll out their working plans and ensure absolute security and safety for activities of the Party and State leaders as well as the 2021 National High School Graduation Exam.

The police forces nationwide successfully investigated 3,203 criminal cases and arrested 6,710 related to "black credit", illegal debt collection, robbery, and other social-order-related crimes. They also eliminated 73 criminal gangs and arrested 668 gambling cases with 3,114 people involved.

Particularly, the police forces have destroyed many large and transnational drug trafficking lines, investigated 2,912 drug-related cases, arrested 4,155 drug offenders, seized 86.33 kg of heroin, 102.58 kg, and 207,351 tablets of synthetic drug.

Over the past time, the PSF continues playing an important role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic while implementing many urgent measures to prevent the pandemic from spreading. At the same time, they also strengthened border control and management of foreigners’ residency, and strictly handled people illegally entering the country. 

Additionally, the police forces intensified the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud, production and trading of counterfeit goods, as well as acts of taking advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic to violate the laws, destabilize the market of medical stuff and food and conduct property appropriation.

To conclude the conference, Minister To Lam praised the efforts and achievements of public security officers and soldiers over the past month.

Minister To Lam emphasized that in the coming time, the security situation in the world and the region will see many rapid and complicated developments, thus posing many challenges and impacts on national security while the COVID-19 pandemic has yet to be completely controlled.

In this context, Minister To Lam asked public security agencies and provincial-level local police departments to strengthen measures to absolutely protect security and safety of key establishments and projects as well as political, cultural, and social events in the country, especially the 1st session of the 15th National Assembly.

The Minister also noted that the PSF enhance the State management over information security, management of residence of both Vietnamese and foreigners, and management of conditional investment and business lines while taking measures to prevent fire and explosions.

The PSF should deploy the COVID vaccination program for public security officers and soldiers as planned as well as proactively work out plans to ensure sufficient  manpower, finance, logistics, and technical services for prevention and control of natural disasters and epidemics upon request, the Minister asked.
